LUNCH MENU:   The lunch menu for today and tomorrow is:

CHARACTER TRAIT:  Self-motivated is our character trait this week.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH:  October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Help us to recognize this cause by wearing pink every Friday in October.  Remember to think pink on Fridays.

GIRLS BASKETBALL:  Come on out this afternoon and cheer on your 7^th & 8^th grade Girls' Basketball teams when they take on Rincon Valley Middle School here in our gym.  The 7^th grade game will start at 4:00pm and the 8^th grade game will start around 5:00pm.  Hope to see you there!  GOOOOO BANTAMS!!

CROSS COUNTRY:  Also, this afternoon your Cross Country team will race at our home course at Helen Putnam Park.  Race starts at 3:30.  Good luck, team!

COOKBOOK SALE FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING:  Tomorrow is the last day Culinary Arts and Independent Living students are selling cookbooks. The cost is just $10.00, and it makes a great gift for birthdays and holidays!

JESUS CLUB:  The Jesus Club meets today at lunch in I-4.

BANNED BOOKS:  Banned Book Week started September 27th.  What does it mean to ban a book?  It means to remove a book from the library.  Our library is NOT removing any books.  Instead you can come to the library to see our display of books that people have complained about.  Why do adults want books removed?  Usually because they involve sex, bad language, or characters adults don't like.  Most complaints are unsuccessful and books like Hunger Games, Harry Potter, Scary Stories, Goosebumps, Twilight, and Captain Underpants are available for you to check out.

LIBRARY:  Due to the training of the Safe School Ambassadors, the library will be closed before school, break and during lunch next Monday and Tuesday.  The library will still be open after school.  Before school and at lunchtime, Ms. Andresen will be opening the computer lab, room H-4, as a place to work, read, and print.  So, please remember

1. Plan ahead if you need a book Monday and Tuesday.

2. Come to the computer lab instead of the library before school and at lunch Monday and Tuesday.

OFF LIMITS:  Please be aware that the tennis court/soccer court area is off limits until further notice.  Please do not gather in or near the soccer court at this time.

HEY GIRLS:  Want to learn to play lacrosse, or sharpen your stick skills?  Come to the lacrosse clinics being held on Saturdays this fall, starting October 3^rd.  Informational fliers are in the office.

LOST & FOUND:  The Lost & Found is piling up.  It's located in the multi, on the stage.  Check it out immediately if you have lost clothing, water bottles, binders, etc.  We will be donating all unclaimed lost & found items to the Goodwill today.  GOING, GOING, GONE!!!

PICTURE MAKE-UP DAY:  Tomorrow, from 7:30-1pm in the Multi,  Lifetouch will be taking make-up pictures for those students who were either, 1) not here for orientation, 2) not satisfied with their photos or 3) did not get an I.D.  If you already received your photos and are retaking them, please bring in your complete photo package with you on make-up day.  Picture order forms are available in the office for the students who haven't taken their photo at all.

 SPIRIT WEEK:  Today is 80's Day!  At the beginning of lunch, there will be a spirit activity in the courtyard for whoever would like to participate.  Prizes will be given.  Can't wait to see everyone's 80's look!

IPAD PROBLEMS:  If you need immediate help with your iPad, come to the office at lunch today for assistance from district technology staff.  This is the last time they will be on campus providing help to our students until after all iPads have been deployed at the high schools.

CHARACTER TRAIT:  Self-motivated is our character trait this week.  Motivated means you are eager to do something.  Self-motivated means that you do things because you want to get them done, not because someone makes you do them.

SPIRIT WEEK:  I hope you're all dressed for Hawaiian Day!  At the beginning of lunch, there will be a spirit activity in the courtyard for whoever would like to participate?  As you all know, prizes will be given.  Tomorrow we are looking for those Super Heros.  Thursday let's see those tourists.  Friday is 80's Day.  Can't wait to see everyone's school spirit!

TREATS DELIVERY:  Who doesn't love celebrations!  Please remember that if a parent or relative is bringing you pizza, cupcakes, In-n-Out Burger--special food or treats, you must clear this with the office first.  These items must be brought to the office first then enjoyed in the multi while sitting at the tables.

SCIENCE CLUB:  Do you enjoy dropping eggs off of buildings?  Are you full of fun facts?  Is engineering your thing?  Science Club is for you!  Come learn about the Bay Sci Challenge and all the amazing things we'll be doing in science club this year.  Our first informational meeting will be today at lunch in S-3.

COMMUNITY EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS FAIR:  Boy Scout Troop 9 will be hosting a community emergency preparedness fair on Saturday, September 26^th, from 11am to 3pm, at Friedman's Home Improvement Store.  Come on down and "Be Prepared"!!!

INFORMATION IN THE OFFICE:  Fliers are available in the office for the Wings Over Wine Country Airshow on September 26^th and 27^th.  Fliers are also available in the office for the YMCA track & field and basketball sports programs.
